I
met a poet
I saw the man on the street
He collected the snow from the Himalaya
Decorated it in his drawing room
Then he took some dry leaves from the jungle
Gave life to them
Flew with them up in the sky
He could talk with the birds in the sky
He could feel their feelings
Even he could hover over the Ocean
And measure the deepest part of it.
He peeked into my heart
Sought vibration,
He peeked into other's hearts also..
When he speaks his words touch me
I feel a vibration on my body
He can play with my feelings
I was amazed with his appearance
Curiously I asked his name
He said," People call me a poet”
Brahmaputra
When I was a child I used to stand
Under the palm tree near the river
Seeing the birds flying on the sky
Listening their sounds of Liberty..
Feeling the Quietness of the river
I asked
The river... Brahmaputra
How long you will be flowing?
Carrying the garbage of mankind
The pains and Sorrows
The tears and cry..
It was just flowing
No grievance,
No feelings
Just bearing the pains and flowing...
That day again I asked
Seeing the blood shedding
Wind of Massacre
Tears of the Widows
Crying of the Orphan...
The Devil was laughing at me
He just whispered on my ears saying
I made her dumb as like a Mother
Keeping quiet and bearing
So she is just flowing...
Journey
of Life
Life is too far
It's just about to finish
But never finished,
It's a journey of gain and loss
Happiness and Sorrow
A journey of Everlasting
The Sun in the evening
Just about to set down
But it is not..
Playing hide and seek
With the Darkness and Light
Once it is set down
A Night will start
Again it will follow
A Beautiful Day....
Let
the Spring Come
I Opened the Gate
Of my Heart
To welcome the Spring..
The Wind of daytime
Calm Sunny weather
Start Whispering me
Lots of things...
The smell of lawsonia
Of the beautiful girl
Waiting for the Bihu
Hopes and Dreams
Of her heart...
To welcome the Rongali
The younger one
Start preparing Drum and cymbal,
The Dreams of his Heart
To get his dear one .
In this spring
He will play
She will dance
Along with the Drum's beating
The Mother collecting yams for Weaving,
To give Bihuwan to dear ones
Grandmother waiting for Poonakan
He will come in this spring
To make her feel blessed.
Let the spring come
With the smell of Foxtail Orchid
Let the spring come
With drummer's drums
The dance of the beautiful one with drum's beating
Let the Poonakan also come
To make the grandma blessed
Let the Heats of everyone be open
To welcome the spring
To feel the Beauty of Life in this spring .
( A feeling in the perspective of an Assamese for upcoming
Spring)
Light in Dream
I was Hurted , Tempted
Failure and Darkness were
Surrounded me everywhere
My drying eyes drying bones..
I was Thirsty and hungry
I could not move the Thorny path
Which shedded blood from my feet
Door of my heart was closed
I heard a Voice knocking on it.
I opened it, Saw a man standing around
He came inside to my house
He burnt a Candle, which lightened me
The Darkness was removed
He played such a music
Which removed the Whole Sadness
And it’s still playing..
Than He saw me a grasses field
We both went there, We talked
There was a tree, A river near by
Flowing cool water on the river
Beautiful fruits were on the tea
I was thirsty and hungry,
He gave me water to drink
A river of Living water start flowing from my
innermost
The fruits on the tea I never even tested.
I was with Him peacefully under the tea
He put his right hand on my shoulder
Told me many things about Life
About Failure, About Temptation
About Darkness and Light
My Mom was calling me..
I woke up.. from Dream
I opened my eyes and keep searching
The peaceful stranger!!!
A Nation where Sun Rises
Long Long years ago there was a man named Lachit Barphukan
He lived in such a Nation where the Sun Rises
Where he defeated the Mughal in Battle of Saraighat
Beheaded his maternal uncle for the Nation
"My uncle is not greater than my country"- He said
He taught a lesson of courage, forsake and LOVE for the Nation
He Wrote his name with golden letter in the History
In his Nation The Sun rose early in the Morning
In his Nation many Tribes lived ,
In his Nation Ram and Harim Lived peacefully
In his Nation Ajan Fakir wrote ZIKIR
In his Nation Sati Jaymati was born
In his Nation saint-scholar, poet, playwright, social-religious
reformer
Sankardev lived and bound together with the same Brotherhood.
No castism , No discrimination , No Constitution was there
Where Father need not to be feel worry when a girl Child was Born
Where no gun need to be shoot when inter-caste love marriage
occurred
Where there is World famous One horn rhinoceros , Majuli and Tea
Where the women weave dreams of fairyland into the texture of
their clothes.
Where in every Spring make us happy with smell of
Foxtail Orchid ,
Smell of lawsonia Of the beautiful girl
Smell of beautiful flower garden in front of every house.
Quietness of Brahmaputra ,Washed the Sin of Parashuram .
Now....
We are the generation from that Nation
Where Piyoli Phukan , Maniram Dewan was hang by British
Where Kanaklata and Mula Gabharo taught us a lesson of braveness.
Where millions from that Land lost their lives for Independence
against British
Where still women weave dreams of fairyland into the texture of
their clothes.
Where every young and old man welcome Spring dancing with Drums
and cymbal
Where still Borgeet and Zikir teach us brotherhood,
Joyness and Love.
Where still Brahmaputra is flowing carrying the pains and sorrows
Still Lachit lives in our hearts as braveness and Love
Still people come from outside of this land never
want to return back again
We have the blood of Lachit to beheaded someone for the Nation
We have the Love of Lachit To love our Nation INDIA
We have heart of Ram , Rahim and Antony to maintain brotherhood
Proud to be an Assamese of India .
(So People may consider us IMMIGRANTs..
Saint Valentine's Day
Today is Valentine's Day
Woke up early this Morning
Donned my new clothes
Standing by the Open Window
Eagerly Waiting for HER..
Seeing the flying Sky
No branches of Flowers
No Gold and Silver
No frankincense and myrrh
No Abundance Wealth is there
To wish HER as a romantic gift
To unlock HER heart..
But Still I was waiting
Since I had a Heart
Full of Love and Joy
A Heart full of
Hope and Faith..
Eyes full of Tears
Of Joy and Sorrow..
She will come
And turn my Sorrow into Joy
My Mourning into Dancing
She was flying on the Sky
And coming down on me.
I offered HER my Broken Heart
Where I put my Pain and Sorrow
Love and Joy , Hope and Faith
She took it Happily
And Said " Happy Valentine's
Day" !!!
The Giggling Flower
There was a photograph hanging on the Wall
The garland of Marigold flowers
Start drying of the photograph
A gigantic flower from that garland start giggling
Saying me something that I had a DAD
The Flowers had a beautiful Life
They were on a branch of the Marigold tree
Beautiful leaves were covering them up
Father used to watering them every morning
They started flourishing exposing their beauty.
A dew of Heaven was on a leaf till afternoon
Suddenly Storm came and dropped the dew.
Even MOM told me that I had a DAD
I never seen him, never felt or touched Him
But I start weeping....
The gigantic flower keep giggling
Saying that Life is just a moment
Life is just like the dew on the Leaf
Life is just like them on the photograph
He said to me that I had a Dad
But now He is on rest with them hanging on the Wall
He said me that Life is an eternal Journey
From certainty to uncertainty seeking the Truth
A journey from the garden to the photograph
The Word
The Word you said
Is living?
Has working power
Still touching me again and again
Days and Nights
Morning and Evening!
The Word you said
Can make me feel your presence
It gives me brand new eyes to see
A new heart to feel
A transformed by renewing of mind!
The Word you said
Endures forever
Giving me Strength and Hope
Direction and Life
Telling me the Truth!
The Word you said
Has healing power
To heal my pains
To transform
My mourning into Joy!
The Word you said
Was planted in my heart as a seed
Seems to spring up and bear fruit
Waiting for you
To reap the harvest!!
Perspective
The Nightingale on my garden
Stars her day with a beautiful song
Every morning she wakes up
And starts singing...
Days by days and months by months
She keeps starting her days
With a fresh and beautiful song .
Everyday her beautiful songs make me wake up
Keep me teaching a new lesson
I started following my days with her songs
Days and months were passed.
Suddenly the evil day came to our Life
One day the storm stretched away her nest
Her two young babies were died.
The storm stretched away the roof of my hut
My growing crops in the field were totally damaged
The rain drops filled on my head in night
In days my pain and sorrow broke my heart
My Joyness and my Hope everything ended.
One morning she came to my smashed hut
She started singing the same song
Her voice was more powerful and beautiful than before
She was flying around me trying to say something
May be she was trying to say that we are belong to Nature
The Nature gives us Life and Destroy
It gives us food and air to live water to drink
We start from Nature and go to nature
Nothing to be worried.
I woke up opening my new eyes
I saw the Beautiful nature
With the perspective the Nightingale gave me.
Nature
Generations come
And generations go
Days after days
Nights after Night
But still you are same
Bearing all our sorrows and pains
As a Mother!
You have beautiful eyes
Of equality, A heart of Love
Freely give air to breath
To the naked poor on the debris
To the King on the Palace
To those who read Bible, Quran
Geeta and tripitaka
Air we breathe, are ubiquitous
Water we drink give us Life
You have a great heart of bearing
The transgression of Mankind’s..
You have the book of Life
The list of sins and everything
Today if I die or my next generation
Your never bear pains..
Nor Cry. But Mute!
As if the Devil has made you forever.
Death
Last Night I saw Mom
In a straight black road
In a glossy white dress
She was going to somewhere
I saw my grandparents
Just behind my Mom,
Old people of our village
The Little Kid, and the beggar..
They all were walking peacefully
I could see a little boy
Walking peacefully behind his Mother,
Somehow I could not recognize him.
My childhood friend Arun
He was also there.
They all were in a glossy white dress
Walking toward the Road end..
I am on the edge of the road
Seeing eagerly their movement
Suddenly I shouted “Mom, Mom"
My Mom saw me deeply and went away
I tried to stop my grandparent
Even my best childhood friend
But they were walking saying nothing...
Then one after another slowly
All were seen moving peacefully
Life:
Life is nothing but a Dream of Midnight
Chasing after the Wind..
We wake up
See nothing
Except facing the Truth
Life is nothing but a line drawing on a paper
Without any direction
Somewhere as the ink finishes
We see nothing
Except an untold feeling
Life is nothing but a flower in a garden
Exposing its beauty
Seasons will change
It will start drying
Except knowing the Truth
The Living Poem
The man I met was seeking
Some beautiful words
In his old Dictionary
Then he had a look
Beyond the universe
Up to the solar system
The comets and asteroids
Up to the Milky Way Galaxy
And beautiful constellations
Picked some beautiful words,
He had a two edged-sword
Piercing even to definition
Of Souls and Spirits.
Collected some powerful words
From deepest part of his Heart
Then he wrote the Words
Arranged it Carefully
On a white Paper
Gave life to the Words
Flew it up to the Sky and said
"Let it be a Poem"
And it was a Poem !!!
